2025 Early- Mid-Career Travel Award

With the generous support of the Baszucki Group, ISBD is pleased to offer travel support to the ISBD 2025 Chiba Meeting for 6 early- mid-career individuals who have accepted submissions in any of the following categories: Symposia, Workshop, Rapid Oral Presentation, Poster Presentation. 

Consistent with ISBD’s goal to expand global access to our Annual Meeting, we will reserve 3 of the 6 Awards for individuals from low/middle income countries.  ISBD is also committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion and, in addition to geographic diversity, we accordingly encourage applications from across the spectrum of gender identity, sexuality, and cultural identity.

About the Award

Awardees will receive waived registration, a stipend* to cover a portion of their travel expenses to attend the ISBD 2025 Chiba Meeting, a plaque, and a one-year ISBD membership.  Awardees will also be recognized during the Awards Ceremony at the ISBD 2025 Chiba Meeting.

*Stipend is meant to cover most aspects of attending the meeting, including airfare, accommodation, and local transport.

Criteria 

To Apply for an Early- Mid-Career (EMC) Travel Award applicants must:

  1. Have a timely completed submission for the ISBD 2025 Chiba Meeting  by the respective submission deadlines (Symposia/Workshop) or (Poster/Oral).  See the submissions page for deadlines.  Please note, only those whose submissions are ultimately ACCEPTED by the Conference Committee will be eligible for the Award, but having formally submitted an abstract enables one to apply.
     
  2. Must be within 8 years of receiving a terminal professional degree (e.g., M.D., Ph.D.) or within 5 years of completing an accredited post-doctoral training program (e.g., residency, internship, fellowship).  Individuals currently engaged in accredited degree programs (M.D., Ph.D.) are also eligible to apply.
     
  3. Winners of the 2024 EMC Poster Travel Awards (including Honorable Mentions) are ineligible to apply.

Application Process: Interested candidates should submit an application along with the following documents no later than the deadline of Monday, March 31st, 2025 at 4:00PM EDT:  

  1. A personal statement of 500 words or less briefly discussing your background, career goals, and involvement in bipolar disorders research, education or clinical work.  Indicate how receipt of an ISBD Early- Mid-Career Travel Award will help you meet or advance your goals.

  3. A letter of recommendation (Strongly Recommended)

Selection: The ISBD 2025 Conference Committee will make the final decision on any applications submitted for the Award. ISBD is not able to provide additional feedback on selection decisions.

Notification:  All applicants will be notified of the Committee’s decision no later than Mid-May 2025.
